Erik Söderblom curates an Artistic Program for SLS’s 140th Anniversary

We’re thrilled to announce that our artistic partner, Erik Söderblom, has been given the honour of creating a spectacular artistic program for 𝟏𝟒𝟎𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐤𝐚 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐬ä𝐥𝐥𝐬𝐤𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐭 (𝐒𝐋𝐒), the Society of Swedish Literature in Finland)!

𝐒𝐋𝐒 is dedicated to collecting, archiving, and researching Swedish-speaking culture in Finland and annually awards numerous literary prizes. This milestone anniversary will be marked with a grand gala on 𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟓𝐭𝐡 at the newly renovated 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢.

𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝟏,𝟕𝟎𝟎 𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬, 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐠𝐨 𝐟𝐚𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲—𝐮𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐮𝐞.

Folk culture and avant-garde shake hands, yesterday meets tomorrow: the digital design company 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐩𝐞𝐬 uses AI to create the vast 7m x 25m "archive galaxy," which will be projected onto the wall in the audience foyer. 𝐄𝐦𝐢𝐥 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐦𝐬𝐭𝐫ö𝐦 and his ensemble will provide the music, composed and arranged by 𝐉𝐮𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐢 𝐍𝐮𝐨𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐚. 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐥 𝐊𝐧𝐢𝐟 choreographs futuristic 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡-𝐒𝐰𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐡 folk dances, while 𝐇𝐞𝐢𝐝𝐢 𝐖𝐢𝐤𝐚𝐫 has designed the costumes for the musicians, dancers, and heralds—a magnificent collection of avant-garde fashion inspired by folk costume traditions. 𝐑ö𝐥𝐥𝐢 𝐑𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐩ää designs the lighting, and 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐦 creates the soundscape that will envelop the entire celebration. The esteemed Swedish historian and author 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐝 will deliver the evening’s festive speech.
